History As a part of the national program to reduce mortality from cancer, the Kansas Breast and Cervical Cancer Initiative (KBCCI) Free to Know Program began building the health infrastructure to support screening for women in October, 1993. The Bureau for Disease Prevention and Health Promotion was awarded a cooperative agreement from CDC to develop the infrastructure of the KBCCI Free to Know program to provide quality screening services by skilled health providers throughout Kansas to the under-served women. In 1995, additional funds were obtained from CDC to provide quality screening services. |
