The Graham County Sheriff’s Office has the responsibility to serve as the Public Safety Answering Point for all of Graham County. We proudly dispatch emergencies and administrative calls for Sheriff’s Office Business, the Hill City Police Department, The Graham County Fire Department, Graham County EMS and the Hill City Fire Department. Our Dispatch Center is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days per week.
Graham County boasts one of the most advanced dispatch centers for small counties in Kansas. Recently we have worked, along with other counties in the state, to convert our current 911 system to an Enhanced 911 system. This project was to started to comply with the Wireless Enhanced 911 Act (K.S.A. 12-5321 et. seq.) in 2004. To date we have put close to $200,000 in the technology that gives Emergency Responders the information they need in more accurate and timely manner. We have accomplished this mostly with grant funds received by the State of Kansas. Since 2006 we have received $132, 075 in grant funds to supplement our system. Part of this overall operating cost is also funded by the 911 tax collected by the phone company on each phone bill. Our goal is to constantly work to keep our emergency system as state of the art as possible so that when someone in Graham County needs help in an emergency, we are doing everything we can to get them help as fast as possible.
